First, yes, I don't believe in "atheists". I don't believe anyone actually believes there is no creator. Creation, itself, constitutes irrefutable proof there is a creator who is eternal and all powerful. The Bible says,
The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. God has made a home in the heavens for the sun. (Psalms 19:1-4 NLT)
Romans directly states that men know the truth about God, because of creation:
They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. (Romans 1:19-20 NLT)
God says "Atheists" know there is a creator, but they suppress the knowledge of God by their evil deeds:
But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. (Romans 1:18 NLT)
Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles. So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. (Romans 1:21-25 NLT)
So no one starts out as an atheist. If they actually end up that way, it's only because they denied and suppressed the knowledge of God until He finally handed them over to their own corrupt way of thinking.
The second reason I don't debate "atheists", is because the very act of listening to their talk promotes moral corruption. The Bible says,
Avoid worthless, foolish talk that only leads to more godless behavior. This kind of talk spreads like cancer, as in the case of Hymenaeus and Philetus. (2 Timothy 2:16-17 NLT)
"Atheists" are people who knowingly suppress the knowledge of God, and fabricate lies, to avoid being accountable to an all-powerful creator. They want to live their lives, and enjoy their corruption, without having the knowledge of God convict them of sin. Professing themselves to be wise, they become fools, and fabricated idiotic denials to explain away God's self-evident existence. Studying what "atheists" claim, and giving audience to their arguments, only allows them to spread their corrupting, cancerous doctrines and influence.
